Use your stuff: a travel card

 http://useyourstuff.blogspot.fr/

This week on Use Your Stuff blog, Tammy suggested "to create a project with travel in mind.  It could be a layout about a place you visited, a bon voyage card, an ATC with a travel theme, a layout or card with a mode of transportation...".

Travel often leads to masculine color palette, but I decided to make a feminine card for a friend who is at a turning point in her life. The sentiment means something like "going to a new place" (but it's not only for geographic places).

homemade card
Papers : cardstocks by Bazzill and American Crafts and patterned papers by Kaisercraft (collection "Sweet Pea") - tools : dies by Kesiart (map, ticket and sentiment) - Embellishments : rhinestones by Artemio - Other : vellum, brad and machine sewing.

And you, what would travel inspire you to do ?

A fast and easy mini album tutorial

Here is a quick and easy mini album tutorial, perfect for gifts !
I used the last sketch from Sketch-N-Scrap for the cover and the inner pages.

This album is for my 2013 family photos : one photo by month. I will offer it to my husband for the Valentine's Day.

Papers : Patterned papers by Lily Bee Design (collections "Urban autumn" and "Double Dutch")  and cardstocks by Bazzill - Tools : butterflies punches by Martha Stewart, edge punches by EK Success and Martha Stewart, corner die and number dies by Quickutz - Other : ribbon, dots, eyelets and machine sewing.

You can use up to 18 photos. You can use more or less photos, as you like. I used 12 photos with the size 4 by 6 (slightly cropped to fit better).

_______________

Supplies :
- 3 cardstocks (good quality ones like Bazzill, because we'll fold them) : one color for the cover and the tags (1 sheet) and one color for the inside pages (2 sheets).
- scraps of patterned papers (I used Urban Autumn by Lily Bee Design).
- ribbon and 2 eyelets.
_______________

Step 1 : Cut the cover with the size 10-3/4 by 6-1/4. Fold as shown below :

_______________

Step 2 : Cut the two 12 by 12 cardstocks in half and fold them in three as shown below (you will have 4 paper accordions) :

_______________

Step 3 : Put them together like this :

We'll make a pocket with the papers that overlap each other.
_______________

Step 4 : Cut a notch on the top of the pocket with a circle punch :

Step 5 : Glue together the edges of the pockets (or embellish them before, if you want, as the back of each paper will be hidden when the pocket will be closed - as for me, I won't stick any photos here) :

Step 6 : Now you should have this :

Step 7 : Cut 2 tags in the leftover paper from the cover, with the size 5-1/2 by 3 :

I will use my tags to write some journaling about my photos, one side by season.
_______________

Step 8 : To reinforce the cardstock cover and embellish it, stick patterened papers (with the size 6 by 4 and 6 by 1) :

_______________

Step 9 : Make 2 holes to slip the ribbons and reinforce them with eyelets :

I made my holes in the middle of the height, like this :

Step 10 : The inside ribbons will be hidden by the pages :

Step 11 : Stick the inside pages. Be careful to stick them so as they are fold like shown below, and with the notch upside :

Step 12 : Stick your photos and embellish your album !
