My 2014 December Daily (with a tutorial)

http://www.frosteddesigns.blogspot.fr/

December is almost here, so I thought it was time to make my December Daily... I decided to make it from start to finish: in december, I plan to only add photos and journaling, because I know how busy I probably will be!

homemade structure for december daily

Check out How to Make Your Own December Daily Structure by Solange Jacquet on Snapguide.

For the inside page, I created 5 simple sketches and I repeated them all over the mini album...

sketches for december daily

To add interest to my backgrounds, I used a mini mask by Heidi Swapp and I sprayed some ink.
I wanted a very subtle color, so I created my own spray ink with my Magicals powders: I diluted very few "Shabby Turbine Teal" powder with lots of water in a mini mister, so that the color would be very light - these powders have very rich colors, so I really used a tiny amount of powder!
Here is a close-up:

And you, how will be your december daily?

04 July 2014

Happy Fourth of July and a happy new!

Happy Fourth of July to all my American friends!

Today, I have a happy new to share with you: I am on the Frosted Designs DT!

http://frosted-designs.com/

Frosted Designs is a a scrapbooking store that also hosts a challenge blog and a monthly kit (subscriptions for 3 or 6 monthes). Each kit comes with a clean or messy option, your choice! And there is free shipping over 50$ on all US orders.

I'm so excited to be part of this wonderful team (check their blogs on my sidebar!), and I have tons of scrapbooking and papercrafting projects for the upcoming months...

But first, here is the Friday-challenge for today: Frosted Designs is partnering with Stuck?!Sketches, and the challenge is to follow the sketch AND to include a die-cut or a punch!

On my card, I die-cut butterflies from vellum and I dry-embossed them. Did you notice? I used a strip of text paper for my sentiment!

Card inspired by Stuck?!Sketches
Products used from the Frosted Designs store:

Here is the sketch (so versatile...):

http://www.frosteddesigns.blogspot.fr/2014/07/friday-challenge-sketch-die-cutpunch.html

Don't forget to link up your project at both challenge blogs for a chance to win! You have until noon, July 16th to submit your entry.  It doesn't have to be a layout:  try it on a card, journal page or canvas... The possibilities are endless so long as you use the guidelines: sketch + die-cut/punch.
Good luck to everybody!

Inspiration jar

http://scrapyourscraps.blogspot.fr/2014/05/inspiration-jar.html

Sometimes, there are techniques I want to try but I forget. Or I have stuff I have but never think to use. Or it looks like I'm always making the same projects, using the same stuff...
That's why I was thrilled when I discovered this wonderful idea on Kaleidoscope's blog: the inspiration jar!

Kaleidoscope's blog is packed with brilliant ideas, like how to make solid foam stamps with your cuttlebug, or how to punch notches for envelope making.
But today, I want to share with you her inspiration jar. She even made a list of ideas to try, ready to print (link on her blog)!
You can use it like it is, or choose what you want to keep, add your own ideas...
As for me, I decided that I will continue to add small ideas when browsing Pinterest: I always think "Oh, I want to try that!" and of course... I never do. Sounds familiar?

I wrote my ideas on strips and I rolled them up. Some ideas are written several times. When I will have used an idea, I will throw it. That way, I hope that I finally will try ALL my ideas at least once! Optimistic, isn't it?

inspiration jar (Kaleidoscope idea) for scrapbooking
Papers : Patterned papers by Crate Paper and cardstock by American Crafts - Tools : dies by Quickutz and Lawn Fawn, edge punch by Martha Stewart and stamp by Bloomini Studio - Other : acetate, twine, ribbon and brad.

Kaleidoscope embellished a recycled box, but I didn't have any, so I decided to make my own. There is a tutorial on Scrap Your Scaps blog.

I am so excited to use it for my next project! Don't forget to take a look at Kaleidoscope's blog, there are so many great ideas!

Sketch-N-Scrap : a card inspired by a layout sketch !

Are you sometimes inspired by layout sketches to make cards ? As for me, I can use sketches for everything : album cover, mini album's inside pages, cards or layouts, and I don't mind if it's a card or a layout sketch !

http://sketchnscrap.blogspot.fr/

So even if this month "Inspired by" sketch on Sketch-N-Scrap blog was a layout sketch, I made a card :

card with Simple Stories Homespun papers
Papers : Patterned papers by Simple Stories and carstock by American Crafts - Embellishments : flowers by Florileges Design, brads and lace by Artemio - Stamp by Denim Tampon and Sugar Nellie ("Country garden") - Other : stitching and promarkers.

Cards with leftovers

Do you keep your scraps ? Do you use your scraps ? I do ! I can't throw away anything if I know I will probably use it... I do use my scraps.
I have a box where I keep all these little things that I made but that finally didn't fit my layout : my "everything-and-anything" box. Lastly, this box was so full that it was really time to use some of it...

use your scraps

A homemade embellishments folder !

I loved so much the rainbow color palette suggested by Margareta for the March Scrap Stash Kit Club that I decided to make a folder with handmade embellishments !

homemade embellishments with Kesiart papers
Papers : Patterned papers by Kesiart and cardstock by Bazzill - Tools : dies by Kesiart (white word and heart) - Other : machine sewing, ribbon and India ink.

I stitched several acetate pages on the folder and I used removal adhesive to stick my embellishments on them.

After I took this photo, I also added two pockets on the inner cover for holding more embellishments.

homemade embellishments with Kesiart papers

Here is a closer look to the inside pages :

homemade embellishments with Kesiart papers

From top left to bottom right, a pocket with embellishment cards, some multicolored labels (stamped), some flowers (quilling anf felt), some cork and embossed vellum shapes, some layered shapes and glazed wood buttons, some faux stickers (stamped), some fabric and paper bows, some rosettes, and an envelope with fussy cut stamped labels or tickets.

If you want more details about handmade embellishments, you can check this old post with lots of tutorials links.

Finally, I also made some 3 by 4 embellishment cards, even if I don't do Project Life, because they are so cute !

homemade embellishments with Kesiart papers
Papers : Patterned papers by Kesiart and carstock by Bazzill - Tools : dies by Kesiart, Lawn Fawn and Quickutz - Stamps : Florileges Design, Denim Tampons, Kesiart, Katzelkraft, Bloomini Studio, Hero Arts, 4h37, InMi Creation, Toga, La Scraposphère and Artemio.

Here is some quick explanations about the cards :

1. Calendar stamp + white embossing powder on kraft background.
2. Circle stamp + white embossing powder on patterned background.
3. Stamp + clear embossing powder + watercolor + removed melted powder by ironing it (with a tissue paper between the card and the iron to absorb the melted powder).

5. Multicolored words stamps all over the card + gold brad.
6. Negative die cut label shape + word stamped on a banner+ die cut star.

12. Patterned paper strips on the top and the bottom + numbers stamp with colored ink markers.
13. Layered die cut shapes + word stamp.
14. A word stamp inked several times with rainbow colors.
15. A big stamp inked with different colors (with colored ink markers).
16.  A bit of a label die cut shape + grid stamped background + heart die cut.
17. Homemade starburst with different patterned papers + circle word stamp in the middle.
18. Background stamp inked with different colored ink markers, and misted with water + word stamped on a black label shape (with white embossing powder).
20. Ledger stamped background + striped strip + Stamped word with handstitching over it.
21. Stamped grid layered onto a patterned background + stamped word on a partial circle label.
22. Stitched punched hearts in a grid design.
23. Stamped grid + punched border.
24. Stamp + white embossing powder on black background + rainbow patterned background.
25. Stamp + colored ink markers + punched hearts.

Some of the cards are machine sewed, others are embellished with faux stitching.
Feel free to ask for more explanation if needed.
