Season's greetings

Tell me that I am not the only one who still have lots of cards to make/send ? For this one, I was inspired by the december Sketch-N-Scrap sketch :

cardmaking pink paisley
Supplies : Papers : cardstock by Toga and patterned papers by Pink Paisley (collection "Snow village") - Embellishments : pearls by Artemio and ribbon - Tools : star dies by Kesi'art - Stamp : Artemio - Other : felt, twine and machine sewing.

I used a big gold ribbon in my favorite way : folded and stitched (ribbon is also this week's inspiration on Use Your Stuff blog). The little white star is cut into felt.

A card with paper strips

For these cards, I was inspired by a french forum ("The Coffee Scrap") : using paper strips (or washi tape). I also used the sketch #9 by Kelly Holifield (from Sketch-N-Scrap) :

A box to keep medals

Today on Use Your stuff blog, Lynne suggested to scrapbook sports : I immediatly thought about my oldest son who started to play sport this year !
But I haven't any photo yet, so I decided to embellish a box to keep his medals.

scrapbooking box
Supplies used : Patterned papers by Little Yellow Bicycle - Dies by Kesi'art (stars) and Quickutz (alphabet) - Others : buttons.
(The photo inside is an old one, while waiting for a sport photo...).

When I knew that the Little Yellow Bicycle brand name was sold (to "Momenta" ?), I really wanted to use these old papers : I love them ! I hope that the LYB designers will continue to make papers, even with another brand...

I thought it would look great as cover for my december journal : I love how it allows several of the patterns of the mini album to show, and to give the album's feeling !

Ad challenge on Use Your stuff blog

Today on Use Your Stuff blog, Barb suggests using an add as inpiration :

The creative team was mostly inspired by the composition and made awesome layouts ! As for me, I was inspired by the "home" feeling and decided to use fabric. I was also inspired by the clean lines and the color palette.

And now, what about a quick tutorial for the quilted Christmas tree ?
First, you need 10-12 squares with the size 2 by 2. Fold them in half and layer them onto two lines, like on the photo below (the two lines make an angle about 45 °) :

Sew the two lines in the middle. Fold twice on the right, like on the photos below, then fold twice on the left, and continue by changing the side every time.

Now, cut a triangle with the same size into your front paper, and stick the fabric tree under it with double sided adhesive.

I hope you enjoyed it and don't forget to add your own project on Use Your Stuff blog !

Tutorial for a mini album with only one sheet of patterned paper

 http://useyourstuff.blogspot.fr/

Today, on Use Your Stuff blog, Tammy ask you to scrap snow !
I immediatly thought about an old Echo Park collection, but I had only one sheet left...
No problem ! Here is a tutorial about how to make a mini album with cardstock, one patterned paper and sequins pockets.
My mini album will be a Christmas gift for my husband, I will fill it with my favorite family photos.

Scrapbooking mini album tutorial
Supplies used : Patterned papers by Echo Park - Punches by Artemio and EK Success - Stamps by InMi creations and EsKiss Design - Machine sewing, vellum, sequins.

Firstly, I chose a patterned paper with four quadrants (but for the red quadrant, I finally used the blue b-side).
Scrapbooking mini album tutorial

Then, I cut it according to the template below :

Scrapbooking mini album tutorial

Now, it's time to make the cover !
1. Cut 3 pieces of cardboard with the sizes 3 3/4 by 3 3/4 (twice) and 1 by 3 3/4.
2. Cut 1 piece of paper (or fabric-paper like me) for the cover, with the size 5 1/4 by 10.
3. Glue the (brown) cover onto the 3 pieces of cardboard (like on the photo below : don't forget to let a small space between the cardboards to allow the cover to fold. I use a roller and a liquid glue similar to american Elmer glue) and wrap over/glue the edges.
4. Cut 1 piece of (white) cardstock with the size 8 1/2 by 3 1/2, draw 3 lines in the middle and make 4 holes like in the photo below.
5. Cut 3 pieces of (white) cardstock with the size 7 by 3 1/2, fold them in the middle, and make 4 holes with a pin (like in the photos below).
6. Sew the double pagers  with a strong thread onto the big white piece.
7. Glue the big white piece inside the cover, be sure to glue strongly the spine (use a bone folder to smooth out firmly), fold the cover and smooth out everything again.

Scrapbooking mini album tutorial

Finally, cut 7 white pieces of cardstock with the size 2 5/8 by 2 5/8 and glue them onto the polaroid frames. Cut small circles to reinforce the tags's holes. Punch some embellishments into the remaining papers (I punched them into the polaroids papers because it will be hidden with the white mats and the photos).

If like me, you want to embellish your album with sequins pockets, cut 14 pieces of vellum with the size 3 by 2 1/2, sew two pieces together on two sides, add your sequins and close them (you can also close them with washi tape).

Scrapbooking mini album tutorial

Here is a closer look to the album : I added word stamps on each tag, and red paper mats under the punched snowflakes. I also stuck some scalloped patterend paper on my spinner.

If you use my tutorials, please, share your projects ! I would be so glad to see them.

I wanted to write this post for a so long time ! So here it is :

More than 36 embellishments ideas

Not all of these embellishments are really innovative, but I hope that you will enjoy them.
I tried to add tutorial links when I could.

I photographied a closer look of my homemade embellishments and wrote a little description of them. I also added a list at the end of this post with additional links, so feel free to add yours !

8. Counterfeited embellishments.
9. Mini clothespin covered by washi tape + label stamp.

Here is a quick tutorials about how to make your faux leather embellishments :

scrapbooking homemade embellishments

First, you need to ink your stamp (Stazon works great). Then heat some fun foam the both sides (I prefer to do it near an open window) and immediatly stamp. And voila !

Most of the time, anything looks better when layered/mated, with foam adhesive, with glossy accent/stickles, with brad/button/gem, with stitching, with unexpected colors (like colored, or stamped in white), or with different mediums (fabric, cork, glittered paper, vellum, shrink plastic, foam...).

Do you have great links to share, or maybe your own work ? Please, leave me a comment and I will be glad to add them !

My Dream December

It's finished ! My homemade december kit is ready, I'm so happy, I can't wait to play with it ! Here it is (inspired by a real december kit) :

24 papers (half are entirely homemade from plain cardstock), 18 homemade decorative cards, homemade paper clips, homemade labels, homemade chipboards, homemade flairs, homemade clear cards and homemade 6 by 8 album (entirely homemade from cardboard/chipboard) !

I'm very proud to be part of Paperpilekitten's Dream December where I will share my step-by-steps for everything in my homemade kit.
I did my very best for these tutorials and now, I have lots of ideas/techniques that I want to use for my future projects. I don't know why I didn't use them more often ? I can do so much with what I already have, I just used to forget it... But it was so much fun to create my homemade items and get new things in a cheap way !

Use your stencils ! (Use your stuff challenge)

 http://useyourstuff.blogspot.fr/

This week on Use Your stuff blog, Julie challenges you to use your stencils...

This will be the first page of my december journal (I used my homemade kit  inspired by a real december kit) :

scrapbooking stencil
Supplies used : Cardstocks by Bazzil (kraft and white) - Stamps by Hero Arts (polka dots) and Denim tampons (words) - Inks by Tattered Angels (Glimmer Mist English Ivy), Stampin'up (old olive) and Versamark + Ranger clear embossing powder - Eyelets, ribbon, machine sewing and homemade chipboard embellishment (25).

(The kraft background is stamped and clear embossed).

I decided to try a different way to use my stencil : firstly, I sprayed ink on it, then I applied the inked stencil over my paper. The result is a blurred look that I love !

Then, I outlined the stars with my white pen and added small words stamps inside the stars shapes.

I would love to see what you do with your stencils... Add your project on Use Your Stuff blog !

Use your eyelets ! (Use your stuff challenge)

This week on Use your stuff blog,  Amanda challenges you to use your eyelets !

 http://useyourstuff.blogspot.fr/

I still love my eyelets, so I decided to make a mini album with a different way for using them on every page.

scrapbooking mini album
Supplies used : Patterned papers by Imaginisce - Stamps by Imaginisce (tree, banner), Bloomini, Toga, EsKiss Design, Katzelkraft and Scraposphère) - Dies by Quickutz (Santa's workshop "album"), Kesi'art (title) and My Favorite Things (clouds) - Edge punch by EK Success -  Eyelets, twine and pens.

I used eyelets to bind my covers, to reinforce the hole of a tag, to slip some twine into it, to hang a banner, to decorate the middle of an embellishment (flower...) or to embellish a patterned paper (here in the middle of the cameras), to make a border, to fasten my photo in each corner (also very useful for vellum), to close a mini envelope.

Scrapbooking eyelets

So, what will you do with your eyelets ? Let's play with us on Use Your Stuff blog !

Scrapbook and Cards Today's challenge

For the World Card Making Day, Scrapbook and Cards Today offered a challenge : "Gather together some Stickers, Chipboard and Twine, along with 1 envelope, 2 pieces of cardstock, and 3 pieces of patterned paper to create a beautiful “thank you” card to send to someone who always gives you the lift you need...when you need it!"

I chose an old, old envelop and gave it a fresh look with a more trendy card : I used the banner stickers as triangles for my background.

.
(By the way, the sentiment "Merci" means "Thank you" in French).

Scrapbooking card
Supplies used : Patterned papers by Kési'art and Lily Bee Design, patterned vellum by K&Company - Stickers by Lily Bee Design - Stamp by Scraposphère - Twine and machine sewing.

Here was my kit (I used my September Scrap Stash Kit) :

2 cardstocks (one classic and one glittered), 3 patterned papers (one faux wood, one faux canvas and one patterned vellum),banner stickers, twine and label chipboard.
